Vergo’s CEO, James Gilding, participates in Sainsbury’s Store Working Day 2023

On December 22nd, James immersed himself in the bustling aisles of Sainsbury’s Worcester branch, working shoulder-to-shoulder with the store’s dedicated colleagues and regional managers. This initiative aimed to bolster the store’s operations during the hectic period leading up to Christmas.

James’s day was filled with tasks, from assisting customers with their queries to replenishing the fruit and vegetable section and ensuring the fresh food aisle was brimming with tasty Christmas treats. His involvement didn’t end with restocking; inspired by the tempting cakes on display, James had to purchase some for Christmas!

Reflecting on the experience, James said, “Participating in this year’s Store Working Day was an absolute joy. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with staff and customers, bringing me back to my roots in retail. Supporting Sainsbury’s during such a vital and demanding time of the year is always a pleasure. This initiative highlights the challenges faced by the food industry during the Christmas season and strengthens our partnership with one of our key clients. It was not just about contributing my time; it was a genuinely enjoyable day spent in the company of the happy shoppers and the Sainsbury’s team.”
