Vergo Pest Management’s Joel Barry recently featured in a compelling documentary by popular YouTuber Wesley Winter, shedding light on the sharp rise in rodent activity in Birmingham following ongoing bin strikes.
In the video, which has already gained thousands of views on YouTube, Wesley explores the impact of the city’s uncollected waste on public health and hygiene, taking viewers into the heart of the problem. Joel, one of Vergo’s experienced pest control professionals, was interviewed on the ground and provided expert insight into the scale of the infestation and the challenges it presents.
Speaking from a hotspot of rodent activity, Joel explained how the disruption in waste collection has created an ideal breeding environment for rats. “This is exactly what they thrive on,” Joel noted. “When food waste is left in the open like this for days or even weeks, it provides the perfect conditions for rodents to feed, nest, and multiply rapidly.”
The documentary highlights just how quickly pest problems can escalate when sanitation systems are compromised – and reinforces the importance of professional pest control in mitigating the risks to communities.
